Befriend Me

I know that I’m famously bad at Facebook. I just don’t know what to do with it. I don’t what to write on people’s walls, and I’m not much of a joiner, even in regular life. I don’t know the difference between a “poke” and a “superpoke.” Just writing that feels a little porny.

But! I’ve signed up for Goodreads.com, and I think I’m going to like it, possibly in an obsessive way. I read a lot, and I’m always looking for more to read. Sadly, I can’t find most of you. So, if you’re into the goodreads thang, too, add me as a friend?

I'd love to! Email me so I can add you via an email invitation...

I just sent the friends invite. I just found good reads myself a few weeks ago. I am becoming mildly addicted.

I'm on goodreads, but I just don't "get" it yet. If I figure it out, I'll friend you. Or invite you. Or whatever.

But I am on Facebook, and that system I do get!

I'd love to have you as a goodreads friend (even though I don't think I've commented here before, I do read your site regularly!)

I didn't see an email address for you, so email me at hairlinefracture AT gmail DOT com and I'll send you an invitation.

My husband and I use Facebook to play Scrabble. We take days and days to play a game, from computers in adjoining rooms. With a 2 year old running around the house, it's not like we could leave an actual game board out...

Facebook feels like junior high, where people pass you notes or grin at you in the hallway on the way to the lunchroom. I like it, though, so far... at least until one of my students tries to "friend" me, and then I won't know what to do, other than be guilty of nominalizing the word "friend." I don't want to "friend" my students - they're my students, not my friends, at least until they graduate and get to be offically not paying to listen to me and me grading them and affecting their GPAs.

Goodreads made me feel overwhelmed. I have sooooo much I already want to read, I just got depressed getting emails from people about other things that I want to read.

I joined...what a really cool site. As you know, I'm always looking for good books like my 100 pound lab looks for food, constantly, everywhere, always...I promise to call soon. I'm just a really grumpy pregnant lady right now...
